June 29th – Alpaca 101 – from husbandry to fiber get your questions answered with Dr. Todd Robinson in Moroni, UT at the Camelid Center.

Finally got it figured out – 3/4″ spacing works best with our rug yarns – make one yourself or order one from us $55 for a 3′ wide with 3/4″ spacing. Other sizes available upon request.

Shearing Season is Coming!!

Please plan ahead and clean up your animals paddock area, and keep it clean, don’t let them lay in their food – hay particles are the biggest cause of loss when we are processing. Brush your animals just prior to shearing to get as much out as you can – it is so much easier to do while still attached to your animals. If the fiber is damp leave the bags open to air out before boxing up to ship, and please don’t use scented dryer sheets — I know you’ve been told to put them in for bug control; but I have serious reactions to the perfumes and your fiber will have to sit out for days and days to air out before I can get near it — so please NO DRYER SHEETS.

I have called everyone on my list to go ahead and send fiber, we have cleared out a big space for storage, so we are back to a first come, first served basis…. let me know it is coming, then ship when you are ready…. your name on every bag and instructions for what you want done, with a phone number so I can call with questions, will get your job done quicker.

We lost one of our favorites yesterday – National Danseur – complications with her pregnancy – we lost her and the beautiful fawn female cria she was carrying….. The hardest part about this industry is this kind of loss. RIP National – we will miss you.
